The usual problem
Schools, churches and clinics get painted in the gaps: the July holidays, the week between Christmas and New Year, the two evenings a week the hall is free. A contractor who cannot hold a programme turns that gap into a problem, and the problem lands on a governing body, a church council or a practice manager who has no room to move the date. The buildings themselves are also harder than they look. High halls and double volume spaces need proper access. Ablution blocks, kitchens and treatment rooms need washable systems, not the cheapest interior. Old church plaster is often solid and needs to breathe. Classrooms are scuffed, not weathered, so preparation matters more than coats. And the budget is usually fixed by a committee months in advance, which means a surprise variation is not just annoying, it is genuinely difficult to fund.

We scope the whole building, write the specification down, and price it as a programme that fits your calendar rather than ours. Blocks and wings get sequenced so a section is finished, cleaned and handed back rather than the whole site sitting half done. Interiors get low-odour water-based systems so a room can be back in use quickly, and wet areas get washable finishes that survive daily cleaning. Where a hall or church has old solid plaster, we specify a breathable system and say so in writing. Access and scaffolding are in the scope and the price, not added afterwards. And where we are on site while people are, the site is barricaded, tools are never left out, and every day ends with the area cleaned down.

Honest limits
What we will tell you up front.
A proper contractor should be honest about what a service can and cannot do. These are the things we will always flag.
- Structural repairs, roof sheet replacement, electrical, plumbing and asbestos removal are separate trades. We report them at survey rather than paint over them.
- Waterproofing and damp proofing is Rubber Sealant Liquid Rubber only. No torch-on, no injection damp courses.
- Holiday programmes are tight by definition. Where the available window is genuinely too short for the specification, we say so before you commit rather than rush the build and blame the weather.
- Rain and wind affect exterior programmes. Weather days are built in rather than pretended away.
- Qualifying Rubber Sealant® systems may carry a 13-year manufacturer product guarantee, subject to manufacturer inspection, specification, application, certification and maintenance conditions.
