Exterior Painting

A finish that still looks right five years from now.

The paint on the tin is the same for everyone. What separates work that lasts from work that fails is diagnosis, preparation and application.

Problem & approach

Where these projects go wrong, and how we handle them.

The usual problem

Exterior failures like flaking, blistering, chalking, mould and hairline cracks re-opening are almost never a paint-brand problem. They are the result of skipped preparation, damp substrates, unsuitable primers or thin single-coat application over previous failures.

Our approach

We inspect the walls before quoting, identify moisture issues, cracks and previous failures, and specify a preparation and coating system that suits the substrate. Every stage is documented so you know exactly what you are paying for.

What may be included

Scope you can actually read.

The exact line items on your quote depend on the site inspection. This is the shape of what a typical project of this type includes.

  • Wall inspection, moisture check and defect notes
  • High-pressure cleaning and biocide treatment where required
  • Crack repair, filling and sanding to a paintable surface
  • Correct primer selected for substrate and previous coating
  • Two full coats of a specified premium exterior system
  • Protection of windows, roofs, fittings and landscaping
  • Site clean-up and workmanship guarantee documentation

Products we work with

The Systems Behind the Work.

  • Rubber Sealant logo

Approved applicator and authorised reseller of Rubber Sealant Liquid Rubber.

  • Plascon logo

Our preferred paint on most projects.

We are not a Plascon approved applicator. Plascon is simply the paint we choose to specify for its quality and track record, and we will recommend a different system where a project calls for it.

Our process

Seven steps from enquiry to handover.

  1. 1

    Enquiry and initial phone assessment

  2. 2

    On-site inspection and colour discussion

  3. 3

    Written quotation with clear scope

  4. 4

    Preparation, cleaning and repair

  5. 5

    Priming and full-system application

  6. 6

    Quality check and touch-ups

  7. 7

    Handover, documentation and workmanship guarantee

Honest limits

What we will tell you up front.

A proper contractor should be honest about what a service can and cannot do. These are the things we will always flag.

  • Rising damp, blocked cavity drains and structural cracking may require specialist repair before painting.
  • Where existing coatings are failing at the substrate level, full stripping may be required at additional cost.
  • Weather-sensitive: application windows depend on temperature, humidity and forecast rain.
